Eighth Grade Supply List

General Supplies

Notebooks and Paper to Start the Year

• 2 A4 graph notebook (math, science)
• 4 A4 lined notebook (science, English*, history, health)
• 1 A5 notebook
• 1 Journal for Chapel
• 1 pack - A4 loose-leaf lined paper (miscellaneous; English*)

Organization

• Daily planner for assignments (ICO brand or similar)
• Organization system of your choice (e.g., binder or accordion folder, individual folders – needs 6-8 dividers for different classes)
• 1 backpack that can fit A4 folders (external water bottle pocket highly recommended)
• 2-4 A4 folders with pockets
• 1 A4-sized clipboard
• 1 A4 binder with two or four clasps (no document boxes) 
• 8-12 dividers for A4 binder
  • 1-2 pencil case/bag containing
  • 10 sharpened pencils (or 2 mechanical pencils with extra lead)
  • 1 set colored pencils
  • 1 set markers
  • 2 glue sticks (Pritt brand is best, no Tesco or Auchan brand)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 2 erasers 
  • 1 ruler 
  • 1 highlighter
  • 2 colored pens
  • 1 personal pencil sharpener
• 1 pair of wired earphones (NO WIRELESS BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES)
• 1 protractor
• 1 compass set

Other Requirements

• Water bottle with a non-spill top/sports cap
• 3 boxes of tissues (no bags, please)
• Parent-supervised access to a computer and internet at home
• ADD NAMES TO CLOTHES (coats, jackets, sweatshirts)/ FOLDERS/ LUNCH, SNACK BOXES/WATER BOTTLE

 

Additions for Semester 2

In January, please replenish and send in these items:

• 2 glue sticks (Pritt brand is best, no Tesco or Auchan brand)
• 10 sharpened pencils (or extra lead)
• New A4 notebooks or loose-leaf paper (as needed)
• 2 boxes of tissues (no bags please)

 

Subject Specific Supplies

At the beginning of the school year, if the subject applies.

Algebra 1:

• 1 Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator: 
  • TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus/Plus CE, TI Nspire CX/CX II
  • DO NOT PURCHASE the CAS versions; they are not permitted on the national tests (e.g., no TI 89, 92, Nspire CAS).

Pre-Algebra:

• 1 Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator: 
  • TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus/Plus CE, TI Nspire CX/CX II
  • DO NOT PURCHASE the CAS versions; they are not permitted on the national tests (e.g., no TI 89, 92, Nspire CAS).

OR

• 1 Scientific Calculator – examples include:
  • Casio FX-### (ClassWiz, ES, and MS series)
  • Optima SS-###
  • Sharp EL-###
  • Texas Instrument TI –30, 34, or 36

English 8:

• A4 binder and loose-leaf paper

OR

• Dedicated A4 lined paper notebook

PE:

• Required: Athletic shoes (rubber, non-marking shoes)
• Recommended: shirt and shorts to change into for PE

Art:

• B5 spiral sketchbook, minimum paper weight of 120 g/m
• 2 pieces of colored poster boards (színes karton 50x70 cm) not black

Band and Choir:

• A4 folder (gumis mappa)
• Girls: black dress trousers or ankle length skirt, black shoes, white blouse or polo shirt with collar- NO SLEEVELESS SHIRT
• Boys: black dress trousers, black shoes, white button front dress shirt or polo shirt with collar

Intro to Spanish or German:

• 1 A4 lined notebook
• 1 A4 folder

Recommended

• Travel-sized personal toiletries to keep in the locker (NO AEROSOL SPRAY CANS OF ANY KIND)
• Locker décor such as key chains and post-it notes (NO MARKERS OF ANY KIND MAY BE USED FOR WRITING ON LOCKERS)
• Insulated lunch bag
