University Planning at ICSB

University Planning at ICSB
Olivia Baker

Preparing students for life after graduation is a thoughtful, multi-year process, and at ICSB, it begins well before senior year.

As a university-preparatory school, we intentionally equip students and families with the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to make informed decisions about future pathways.

Events like University Planning Night, college fairs, university representatives that visit campus, and engagement with broader higher-education opportunities outside of the school, such as Educatio Expo, reflect our commitment to walking alongside students as they discern what comes next.

University Planning Night

Right before Christmas break, University Planning Night brought Upper School students and their parents together for a clear and practical look at the path ahead. With a focus on grades 9–11, the session guided families through the full university planning process, including long-term timelines, digital planning and exploration tools, standardized testing options, and key differences between U.S. and non-U.S. university pathways. Parents also received an overview of financial planning considerations and practical strategies for supporting students as they navigate academic choices and future goals.

Educatio Expo

This guidance connects closely with opportunities currently available beyond campus. The Educatio Education Exhibition, Hungary’s largest higher education event, took place January 8–10 and brought together more than 120 exhibitors from 18 countries. Students and families met representatives from domestic and international universities, learned about admission requirements, scholarships, and internship opportunities, and explored a wide range of academic and career pathways.

The exhibition also offered valuable insights for educators through presentations on trends and innovations in Hungarian higher education. This free event complemented University Planning Night in a timely manner.

Together, University Planning Night and experiences like the Educatio Expo highlight the practical ways ICSB supports students on their journey beyond ICSB. By providing clear timelines, exposure to diverse university systems, financial planning insight, and opportunities to engage directly with institutions, we help students approach the next step with confidence and clarity.

The university preparation program at ICSB is always developing, shifting with the landscape of higher education. At ICSB we try to look at each individual student and give them the support they need.

Mr. Michael Southwell, Upper School Principal

This intentional preparation empowers them to pursue pathways that align with their strengths, goals, and calling—wherever, in the world, that may lead.
