We're So Thankful for the Completion of our Upper Library!

Aside from some finishing touches, our upper library renovation is finally done! Check out the before-and-after shots and all the improvements!

We've replaced the carpet, tables, and chairs. We added new bookshelves, beanbags, and security cameras. Then, we moved most of our upper school and adult books upstairs.

Doing THAT made a lot more room for our middle grades books, along with space for our new World Languages section. Every section of our library has gained space, and new books are on the way too!

Take a look!

Before....

And after....

What is the upper library for?

The upper library is for middle grades and upper school students to use during study halls with permission from their teachers.

The books that have been moved upstairs are still available for all students 5th grade and up, but books marked with a YA continue to need parental permission forms for 5th graders. Students who want to stay away from content more appropriate for older students can use the YA stickers to guide them in their choices.

There are still books for upper school students downstairs! These include all our biographies, graphic novels, and reference books. Middle grade books are also still great choices for a lot of upper school students.

What does this mean for younger students?

4th and 5th grade students will now have an easier time finding books that are a good fit for them in our new Middle Grades section! In publishing, middle grades is rated for students grades 5-8, but 4th graders with high reading levels will also be able to enjoy those books. The content is written with their age group in mind, and these books are no longer mixed in with all the YA and adult books!

As always, let me know if you have any questions!
