Shark Tank

Seventh Graders did a 'fin-tastic' job presenting Chinese inventions to a panel of Sharks in their history class last week.

7th Grade History turned into a high-stakes business showdown last week as students stepped into the world of Medieval Chinese inventions—with a Shark Tank twist!

Working in teams, students researched and developed pitches for groundbreaking Medieval Chinese inventions like Gunpowder, Fast-Ripening Rice, Compass, and Paper.

They then brought these inventions in front of a panel of "Sharks," attempting to convince them to invest in their ideas. This panel included Mr. Sawyer Smith, Ms. Madeline Kauffman, Mr. Paul Reed, and their History teacher, Ms. Heather Endicott, who left no room for fishy business. The Sharks didn’t hold back, grilling students on their sales strategies and market potential.

This project made a splash across grade levels! Later in the week, 7th graders shared their inventions with their Second Grade chums, who had also been learning about Chinese inventions. The younger students got an exciting preview of what’s to come in future history lessons, while the 7th graders got to showcase their creativity and practice leadership.

From passionate pitches to tough negotiations, students were hooked on this project from beginning to end! We are grateful for teachers like Ms. Endicott, who find fresh ways to bring excitement to the learning process, making it fun and impactful for their students.
