NHS Service Day

NHS Service Day
Olivia Baker

Upper School NHS members led all of the Upper School students for the day, serving the communities around us in all sorts of ways, from manual labor to teaching English, playing music, and more.

Upper School students stepped beyond the classroom and into the community for NHS Service Day, a meaningful tradition led by members of the National Honor Society. Divided into eight teams, students served in a variety of ways across Diósd, Érd, and beyond.

Three of the eight teams went to three different kindergartens in Diósd, where they worked on property improvements. Another team worked manual labor at Stitching Embrace Ministry in Tápióbicske. Yet another group did various projects, like cleaning up and picking up trash, around Diósd, assigned by the Mayor's Office.

In addition to helping physically improve institutions, other groups used their language and music skills to serve. One group led interactive English language lessons and practiced conversational English with local Diósd students. Several rotations of local students came through and spent 45-minute sessions with our NHS students. Finally, one group gave a mini-concert for two retirement homes, Időseket Ellátó Központ in Érd and Szent Anna Otthon in Diósd. After beautifully playing and singing the songs they had prepared,  students visited with the residents. Their musical talent and joyful presence delighted the senior citizens they served.

It was a lovely day, both in terms of the weather and how the day was spent. Through our students' efforts, they brought ICSB's Vision for students to life - serving as Christ-Followers, Global Citizens, and Faithful Stewards. They generously gave their time, energy, and unique abilities to care for the people and environment around them.

We are proud of our students for reflecting Christ’s love in practical ways and embodying the heart of ICSB’s mission. Service Day was more than an event—it was a beautiful expression of our school’s commitment to impacting the world for good.
