ICSB's International Festival brought our ICSB community together beautifully! Read on to hear about the highlights of the day!
ICSB is made up of people from so many places. There are 24 different nationalities among our student body and staff. It was time to celebrate the "International" in the International Christian School of Budapest! This past Saturday, ICSB's PSA hosted the first-ever International Festival. The goal of the event was two-fold:
1) to build community among school parents, students, and staff
2) to learn more about the different cultures we have represented at ICSB
The gym was filled with sights, sounds, and FOODS from around the world! Families from 15 different countries put together displays to share the essence of their home countries. Some families shared the traditional dress of their country, some brought games, some performed songs and dances. And then there was the food! Each country prepared a spread of traditional dishes. It is safe to say that no one went home hungry.
The event organizer, Kim Rickard, shared, "I'm so thankful for what God put together because there is no way I could have done it or had the energy to do it without Him"! She feels the goals for the day were met, and others would say they were exceeded! Not only did families get to know others from other nationalities, but parents within nationalities came together and made new or stronger relationships. Tina Curby, a longtime Upper School teacher, shared that there were parents of some of her students whom she had never met before, and she was able to meet them on Saturday. She was so glad about that opportunity.
ICSB Director Kristi Hiltibran said, "I am so glad I went to the International Festival! We all learned and experienced new things, increasing our understanding of the world we live in. This event displayed the richness of the diverse cultures represented in our school community. I hope this becomes a tradition at ICSB!"
We appreciate all the hard work that went into the day. It was a great effort from so many families. Let's hope that this can become an annual event!
Susan Cooper, parent and staff member, shared, "ICSB is a place where our differences can be celebrated, but the unity of Christ binds us together."
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! - Psalms 133:1
