Got Spirit?

Got Spirit?
Olivia Baker

Top hats in pajamas, togas, and flying houses, this year's Bulldog Spirit Week lived up to the hype.

Every day over the past week, ICSB transformed into a different world. A pajama party and a history lesson kicked off the week. Then, we entered a multiverse where Disney characters and French Revolutionaries go to school together. Finally, Bulldog Spirit Week wrapped today, as a sea of green filled the halls for Game Day.

Monday was Pajamas or Prom Day. Some students wore their fanciest, others their 'comfiest' clothes. A few even opted for both simultaneously, like Middle Grades student Van C., who wore a top hat, jacket, and tie with his pajamas—a creative way to clean up nicely and feel cozy at the same time.

Tuesday was Decade Day. The halls turned into living history books as students and staff chose a variety of decades and periods and dressed up accordingly. Some chose the vibrant colors of the 80s, others the polka dots of the 50s or the grunge look of the 90s. A few students, like Nash C., did not limit themselves to the Twentieth Century but flaunted the togas of "the O.G. 80s," in other words, 80 BC.

Tuesday was also the one-hundredth day of this school year. To celebrate, some Early Grades teachers and students dressed up as 100-year-old senior citizens.

Wednesday was Character Day. Students dressed up as their favorite characters from movies, books, and TV shows, and a few even as dressed up as their teachers and parents. Elsa, from Disney's Frozen, made an appearance, as did characters from Victor Hugo and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Les Miserables. 6th Grader Catalina S. displayed her creativity by dressing as the flying house from Pixar's UP, while several other Middle Grades students and staff formed the cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Finally, today is Game Day! The gym is about to get flooded with students and staff in their ICSB 'swag' and crazy hair like Ms. Luiza Sekkar, Ms. Hannah Schumacher, and their fourth graders who went all out with their Bulldog Spirit today! The school is abuzz with anticipation for this afternoon's pep rally and the opening Winter Classic games! It has been a fun week celebrating our school spirit and building excitement for the Winter Classic. Now, let's go and win some trophies. Go Bulldogs!
