Testimonies from three Major League Baseball players and one of our own student athletes, with Worship led by Évi and Illés Dobner - ICSB's first-ever Fields of Faith event, knocked it out of the park!

Last Friday night, coaches, players, families, and members of the greater community gathered in our Gym for Fields of Faith—a worldwide movement that provides athletes with the opportunity to share their faith and discuss how it impacts their sports.

In partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Érd Baseball és Softball Club, ICSB hosted players and coaches from three Major League Baseball teams, the Houston Astros, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Boston Red Sox, who gave their testimonies and shared how they have navigated their faith in the context of professional sports.

The event was live-translated into Hungarian, making it possible to open it up to be a wider Diósd/Érd Community event. The night included a time of live congregational worship, a student-athlete testimony, and pro-athlete testimonies. The evening began with beautiful and powerful live worship led by Évi and Illés Dobner in Hungarian and English.

Then, senior Mira T., who has played Varsity Basketball and Volleyball for ICSB, and has served as the girls Volleyball Team Manager, gave her testimony- a moving and relatable testament to her faith journey and how she lives that out on the court.

Finally, ICSB had the honor of hosting three Major League Baseball players,  Zach Cole of the Houston Astros, Chase Seibert of the Baltimore Orioles, and Trennor O'Donnell of the Boston Red Sox. They each shared their intriguing and enlightening journeys of faith and sport. In a  Q&A session, attendees had the chance to ask these professional athletes their burning questions.

The event concluded with a time of connection over refreshments. Fields of Faith was a meaningful night of encouragement, community, and celebration of faith on and off the field. Thank you to Mr. John Burgess and Mr. Terry Lingenhoel for organizing the event, to everyone who served and made this possible, and to all who came and participated.

I love that our school was able to partner with FCA to host this event. It was an opportunity for our youth to hear the important message from professional baseball players that while pursuing athletic dreams can be motivating, lasting fulfillment is found only when God remains the priority.

Athletic Director, Mr. John Burgess
