Early Grades Music Thrives
Candace Jefferies

With the addition of Ms. Danneker to our Early Grades staff, music class and chapel have taken on new life!

4th Grade's Creative Juices Flow

Ms. Danneker's 4th-grade music class recently engaged in a creative activity that involved fruit-themed percussion compositions. This activity allowed them to explore the concepts of steady beat and rhythm and encouraged them to think critically and creatively.

The groups worked together, experimenting with different percussion instruments and arranging them in ways that created a musical piece. The students strengthened their communication skills by performing the compositions for their classmates. This activity enhanced their musical talents, helped them express themselves artistically, and fostered collaboration with others.

Outdoor Surroundings Inspire 5th Grade

The 5th graders took to the outside for a unique learning experience! The purpose was to practice playing new recorder pieces for Recorder Karate, a program that allows students to earn different colored belts as they master other songs on the recorder. By taking the class outdoors, Ms. Danneker aimed to create an engaging and enjoyable environment for her students to make music while appreciating the beauty of God's creation.

During the session, the students were paired to work together on troubleshooting and refining their parts. This collaborative approach fostered teamwork and communication skills and allowed the students to learn from one another. By engaging with their partners, the 5th graders could identify and fix any errors or challenges they encountered while playing their recorders.

Overall, this outdoor music class provided a refreshing and hands-on experience for the students, combining the joy of making music with the wonders of nature.

These engaging and innovative approaches to music education introduced by Ms. Danneker will establish a respect and love for music in the hearts of these young students.
