ICSB's Early Grades Basketball Club is shooting for the moon and aiming for the stars as they face a more competitive season under new leadership.
Mr. Peter Lash and I took over the Basketball Club this year in hopes of providing a more competitive environment for the 4th and 5th-grade students.

The team is sponsored by Mr. Jeffrey Jones, who also serves as its head coach, while Ms. Christie Kihm acts as the Assistant Coach. Two Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) members also help our young basketball squad each week. We will share more on our inaugural season of ICSB's SALT program in a later issue.
Just this Wednesday, the team played two games against the Budapest International School (ISB) at ICSB. Eleven boys and four girls were able to utilize their playing time against a team of six 5th-grade boys. The two teams also mixed things up by playing one intrasquad match.
It was a great learning experience for the players.

This was not their first game of the season. The team met a total of eight times so far this year, including three games.
We are grateful to Coach Jones, Coach Kihm, and SALT members for helping make this Basketball Club possible. Thank you to our Athletic Director, Coach Burgess, for continually finding and creating new opportunities for students of an increasing age range to participate in a growing variety of sports. He is thus not only expanding and realizing our Athletic Department's hoops and dreams, but helping more and more students develop the many life skills and character traits that playing organized sports can provide.
The goal is to provide the students with an opportunity to represent their school in an environment that aims to foster a Christ-centered community through sport, where students grow in faith, character, teamwork, and skill.
