"Do You Want to build a snowman?"(Anna, Frozen, 2013) our younger students asked each other this week, while students of all ages made snow angels and enjoyed the freshly fallen snow during recess.

This week, Hungary has experienced its most severe snowfall in ten to fifteen years, accompanied by some of the coldest temperatures in recent winters.

While the biting cold, snow, and ice can be disruptive to daily routines, it has been beautiful to see Diósd turn into a Winter Wonderland, and the joy it has brought our students.

With boots crunching on packed snow, scarves pulled a little tighter, even familiar streets felt different under a white blanket. Students arrived at school bundled up from head to toe, while some of our youngest learners were even pulled along on sleds, turning an ordinary school morning into a little adventure.

While some days this week it has been too cold for outdoor recess, on other days our students made the most of the magical scenery. Snowmen began to appear on the playground, along with snow angels, all accompanied by rosy cheeks and big smiles.

While winter weather can be demanding, it has also created opportunities to pause, enjoy the season, and share in its simple joys together. In the words of Olaf, the snowman from the Disney film, Frozen:

I Never Knew That Winter Could Be So Beautiful.
