DVAC Weekend Wins

The weekend was packed with action at the DVAC tournaments!

  • Varsity Girls Volleyball: Undefeated champions! With a flawless 4-0 record, the team brought home the DVAC trophy from BISBu.
  • Varsity Boys Volleyball: After a hard-fought championship match at ICSB, the boys earned a commendable 2nd place finish.
  • JV Boys Volleyball: With a 3-1 record, the team clinched the bronze medal in a nail-biting match at AISB.
  • JV Girls Volleyball: Despite a valiant effort, the team fell short in their bronze medal match, finishing 4th in the tournament.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls for winning the tournament and the Varsity Boys for winning the silver trophy! Congratulations to JV Boys and Girls Volleyball on a great season with many wins and hard work! These teams made their coaches proud far beyond any wins or losses. Ms. Anna Hughey, for who this will be her last year coaching the team, reflected on her team, the 2024 Varsity Girls Volleyball Champions:

If I could describe the season with one word it would be “Unity.” Whether it was on or off the court, I truly felt our team was unified.  My goal for every season is that my players would reflect Christ and realize that it truly isn’t about winning or losing but how WELL you win or lose as a TEAM, and I saw that in my team this year. They treated each other and the other team with respect. When another player on the opposing team got injured, their first reaction coming off the court was “Let’s pray for her coach.”

Goals Galore

ICSB introduced its first-ever Upper School Boys Soccer Club this year, ICSB FC, and celebrated the return of Varsity Girls Soccer after a five-year hiatus. ICSB's Middle School soccer programs returned in great numbers on both teams. Here is how they wrapped their seasons.

Middle Grades Soccer Teams Faced their Final Games and DVAC

The Middle Grades Boys and Girls Soccer Teams traveled to LFB, and both emerged victorious! Middle Grade Girls won 3-0, and Middle Grades Boys won 4-2. At their DVAC the Weekend before last, the Middle Grades Girls Soccer team ended with a strong 2-1-1 record but narrowly missed the bronze medal match due to a point differential. The Middle Grades Boys faced a challenging day in Bratislava, putting forth their best effort despite tough matches.

ICSB FC Wraps Up It's First Season

The Upper School Boys Soccer Club (ICSB FC) played a determined second half against LFB but ultimately fell short with a 3-1 loss. This marked the end of a hard-fought season—great effort, team! Mr. Beni Kiss said:

We had limited time on the pitch, but we used our opportunity well and enjoyed the sport. I am so proud of the energy and the heart the boys brought to all the practices and the matches.

Varsity Girls Soccer's Strong Return

The Varsity Girls Soccer Team's season ended one week later than the other seasons. Two weeks ago, they won their second and final "home" game for the season against Britannica International School at DNS. They played very well and walked away with a decisive victory and a score of 3-1.

Last week, they played very well despite being short a few players due to sickness and injury, and they tied BBIS 1-1.

The Varsity Girls Soccer Team competed in their DVAC this past Saturday at BISBudapest. It was a difficult day, with no wins, only ties and losses; however, they managed to be the only team to score against the DVAC champions, ICSV. This achievement was fitting as they managed to score in almost every game throughout the season.

At the beginning of the season it was evident that our team was lacking in experience, but as the girls pulled together and played as a team we found a lot of success this year!  I am really proud of the individual growth and team success that we had together.

Mr. Michael Southwell, Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach
