The Annual Alumni games had a great turnout this year, with students playing very well, but more importantly, getting to welcome and reconnect with our alumni.
Every year during Christmas Break, ICSB hosts its Annual Alumni games, in which current students play against former students. This beloved tradition started with boys and girls basketball games, but in recent years, boys and girls volleyball games and a co-ed soccer game have been added to make it a full day of reconnecting through sports. This year’s Alumni Games had a great turnout from alumni, current students, and their families. It was fun to celebrate our community and welcome alumni visiting for the holidays. Here’s a quick look at how the games unfolded:
High-Scoring Soccer Showdown
The day started with a co-ed soccer game at a nearby sports center, DNS. It was a great turnout, with members of the Varsity Girls Soccer Team and ICSB FC showing up, ready to play a good game against our alumni. Students played very well and secured an overwhelming win over the alumni. The final score of these goals galore was 14-7; although so many goals were scored, everyone started to lose track. Now that's a fun soccer game!
Varsity Volleyball Victories
In volleyball, the Girls Varsity Team and the Boys Varsity Team came away with straight-set victories against the alumni teams. The varsity teams gave it their all. Despite some impressive plays by the alumni, the varsity teams’ sharp skills and teamwork gave them the edge and the victory.
Basketball Nail-Biters
The basketball games were nail-biters from start to finish. The Girls Varsity Team fought hard and narrowly defeated the alumni 32-30. The boys' game was close as well. Seeing former ICSB student and professional basketball player Soma Glatz ('21) showcase his talent was especially exciting. The Varsity Boys Basketball Team put up a good fight. In the final moments of this intense battle, the Boys Alumni Team secured its win, the only alumni win of the day, beating the Varsity Boys Team 56-54.
The day was a fantastic mix of competition and connection, with alumni and current athletes sharing stories, laughs, and some hard-fought games. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who came out to support the teams and cheer on the players. See you next year!
