My Top Ten Library Books of 2025!

My Top Ten Library Books of 2025!
Tricia Fraser

We added SO many great books to our library last year. Of those that I read, here are my top 10!

10. Louder Than Hunger by John Schu - This middle grade novel in verse is about a boy struggling with an eating disorder. Based on the author's experiences, it's painfully honest about an important topic, and yet ends with hope.

9. Enemies in the Orchard: A World War II Novel in Verse by Dana VanderLugt - Did you know that some German prisoners of war were sent to work on farms in Michigan during WWII? The author weaves a powerful story about the conflict between the POWs and the local farmers, based on true events.

8. Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater - I love a good romantasy and this one ranked right up there this year! If you like faeries and a little romance, you'll love this!

7. Everything Happens for a Reason: And Other Lies I've Loved by Kate Bowler - The powerful story of a young theology professor who discovered she had stage 4 colon cancer.

6. Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green - You wouldn't think 200 pages about tuberculosis could be riveting, but it completely is!

5. The Fire, the Water, and Maudie McGinn by Sally J. Pla - I loved this heart-wrenching book about a young girl with autism. It was a tearjerker at times, but also a great read for anyone who wants to better understand neurodivergence.

4. Whale Eyes: A Memoir About Seeing and Being Seen by James Robinson - Using interactive visuals, this highly original book brings to life the experience of growing up with a disabling eye condition. It will resonate with many readers, especially people with learning disabilities and those who support them.

3. The Art of Us by Julie Wright - A powerful young adult romance featuring characters dealing with some difficult circumstances, like homelessness, loss, and abuse. It's compelling.

2. Prayer in the Night: For Those Who Work or Watch or Weep by Tish Harrison Warren - A powerful walk through the nighttime prayer of compline, found in the Book of Common Prayer. Even those from other faith traditions will find this inspiring and encouraging.

1. Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkien by John Hendrix - Anyone who has even a passing interesting in C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien will love this book! Using both narrative and comic panels, it's appealing for everyone middle grade and up.
