We've asked some of our top library patrons what books they'd recommend for Spring Break reading. See what they said!
From Jay, grade 7:
For a very good Spring Break read, I recommend The Skyward series by Brandon Sanderson. This action-filled series takes place in space and carries a very interesting plot line as you follow a girl named Spensa, who is a crucial player in bringing peace to her people and the galaxy. These books were enrapturing to read, and I could hardly put them down.
From Annora, grade 8:
I recommend East by Edith Pattou. Pattou does an amazing job of retelling the little-known fairytale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" in a well-paced, well-written novel with believable and emotionally engaging characters. Definitely a must-read!
The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee. This book reveals the everyday trials that Chinese immigrants faced when they arrived in America. Lee places you in a world of injustice and shows you how one girl gains the confidence to combat it.
From Jonathan, grade 9:
I recommend the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman. They are exciting books, and the idea was unusual and interesting. (Note: Students younger than 9th grade need parental permission to check out the Scythe books due to violent content.)
From Molly, grade 11:
I recommend Entwined by Heather Dixon. It's a twist on the fairy tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses. If you enjoy fantasy, mystery, and romance, this book is for you!
From Leeza, grade 11:
I recommend Love and Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean. It follows a girl who is invited to England on a real life scavenger hunt based on classic novels. It is a competitive adventure with love mixed in, a perfect way to escape.
Stay tuned next week for more great book recommendations from other ICSB students!
