Advanced Placement (AP) Program

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program provides eligible 11th- and 12th-grade ICSB students the chance to undertake college-standard courses.

By participating, students have the potential to attain college credit in the US, contingent on their AP exam results.

ICSB extends AP courses driven by student interest. Over recent years, offerings have encompassed subjects such as:

  • AP Art and Design
  • AP Biology
  • AP Calculus
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Economics
  • AP English Literature and Composition
  • AP Human Geography
  • AP Physics
  • AP Physics 2
  • AP Physics C
  • AP Psychology
  • AP Statistics

Our AP course offerings vary slightly from year to year. Although our AP courses are often driven by student interest, ICSB’s leadership makes the final determination on what courses will be offered for the current academic year based on staffing and scheduling.

We advocate for all AP course enrollees to sit for the corresponding exams, and a sizable number even opt to independently prepare for additional 'Exam Only' course sections for courses we do not currently offer at ICSB.

A significant majority, over 90 percent, of US higher education institutions recognize AP credits, with 50 percent granting second-year status to those with ample qualifying grades. In addition, many global institutions consider AP scores in their admissions process. Moreover, AP language exams frequently serve as acceptable evidence of the necessary proficiency in the English language.
