Supplemental hands-on math instruction helps students become successful learners.
4th Grade Enrichment Math students created a model of a famous fractal called the Sierpinski Triangle. Fractals have the attribute of self similarity, meaning that each individual part is a smaller version of the entire whole. If any of the component parts are magnified each one would look like the complete structure.
The Sierpinski Triangle can be created by starting with one large, equilateral triangle, and then repeatedly cutting smaller triangles out of its center. This self similarity pattern can be created over and over again.
