Within the National Honor Society (NHS), serving others is a core value that #ICSBudapest's chapter takes seriously. Each semester the NHS student leaders organize a service day.
The Upper School student body and staff teamed up to work on several projects. Armed with tools, cleaning supplies, and musical instruments, they set out on a day just before Spring Break to make a difference in the surrounding communities.
The projects included:
- Performing music for senior citizens at Diósd Otthon and Topoly Utca Otthon. Students in the ICSB ELL program made 140 greeting cards to give to each resident in the two homes. The cards said, "May the Lord bless you and keep you! Love, an ICSB student," in Hungarian.
- Property improvements at Kings Gate, a training facility and hospitality house at YWAM's campus in Budapest. Students worked to prepare for a church team arriving by cleaning and beautifying the inside and outside of the property.
- Property improvements at Érd Baseball és Softball Club to prepare for the many games to be played in the coming months.
- Various service projects in Diósd, such as painting fences and posts, cleaning parks, and picking up trash.
- Teaching English through fun activities and games to Diósd students who visited the ICSB campus.
Leadership from the varied locations expressed their appreciation to our students and staff for their generosity of time and talents. The teams were eager to lend a helping hand!
