Lower School Pick-up Procedures

 

Early Grades Pickup

(Pre-1^st through 5^th grades) 

 

The dismissal duty teacher inside the fence will call the student’s name and dismiss her or him when the teacher sees the correct parent. Only then should the student exit the gate where the dismissal teacher outside the fence will help the student in the car, cross the street, or connect with the guardian. Please do not call your student to skip this important safety precaution. 

By Car 

Please pick up your child quickly. Do not get out of your car in the line since this causes significant delays for others! If the driver needs to get out of the car for any reason or there is some other delay in picking up your child, please pull over to the right side and park legally, without blocking driveways, garage entrances, or the Óvoda across the street. 

On Foot

Please do not block the sidewalk or the gate. Do not stand between the gate and the black barrier or against the fence so there is a clear walkway along the sidewalk. Teachers and students need to move through this area, and it helps keep our students safe.  

When planning your children’s pick-up, please note the following: 

• ICSB does not offer after-school supervision for children. 

• Parents can pick up your children at the east gate on Ifjúság út at 3:35 on regular school days, 2:45 on Wednesdays, and 11:45 on half days. Teachers will have your children ready at the gate at that time. 

• If parents are more than 10 minutes late for pickup (3:45 PM on regular school days, 2:55 on Wednesdays, and 11:55 on half days), their children will automatically go to the early-grades floor, and the parents may be billed 1500 HUF per late pickup. Billing comes from ICSB’s Business Office, who will notify parents. 

• Parents who are more than 10 minutes late will need to park their car and walk up to the early-grades floor or the playground to pick up and sign-out their child. 

• Children will be released to adults designated for pickup in PowerSchool or to siblings in grade 8 or older. Parents must advise us in writing if someone else will be picking up their child! For planned changes, please e-mail the classroom teacher. For last-minute changes, please e-mail the classroom teacher and the Lower School Administrative Assistant, Ms. Czuder, at lczuder@icsbudapest.org. 

 

Middle Grades Pickup

(6^th through 8^th grades) 

 

Middle Grades students are dismissed out the main entrance on Ifjúság út 3:35 on regular school days, 2:45 on Wednesdays, and 11:45 on half days. It is important to note that Middle Grades students are not supervised after dismissal. It is the responsibility of students and parents to communicate pickup times and locations or to make other arrangements. 

If you pick up your student by car, consider arranging for your Middle Grades student to walk a short distance to a different street to meet you. This will help decrease congestion on Ifjúság út, and make the pickup process smoother for everyone.
