Distance Learning Plan
Overview
ICSB's Distance Learning Plan describes how we will ensure that learning continues if we cannot meet at school and students must stay home. In March of 2020, we had to essentially create an emergency learning plan. For 2020-2021, we have had more time to prepare for the possibility of distance learning, and we have combined the valuable lessons we learned with best practices to create a more sustainable distance learning approach. Parents and students will note several differences in this new plan. We believe quality learning can happen at a distance, we have powerful digital tools, and we will diligently work to provide an engaging learning experience.
At times like this, though, our partnership with parents will be especially important. Please read the following information carefully and then click on the remaining tabs for more specific information. It is also worth noting that a change like this can affect health and well-being. Counselors are available to assist with any mental/ emotional/social health needs. Heidi Meiners (hmeiners@icsbudapest.org) can help you get in contact with a counselor, if needed.
Priorities and Considerations
- Students will have both off- and on-screen learning activities designed to engage learners in experiences that connect to the current curriculum.
- Students will engage in both synchronous (all at the same time together) and asynchronous (each working on their own time) learning activities.
- Each division/grade level will have a specific schedule that should be followed by students.
- Communication between the teachers, students, and parents is important for the success of the distance learning plan.
- The workload for students is expected to be similar to a normal school day.
- An appropriate level of adult support and involvement will help facilitate the student’s learning.
- All classes will continue as distance learning; however, the format of the classes may be modified from their on-campus version.
