Director's Letters - April 3, 2021

Dear Parents,

Yesterday's news about Stephanie Bishop's death was very difficult for ICSB's community. She was a wonderful principal, colleague, and friend. It will be important in the days ahead to take time to process this in healthy ways.  We would like to begin to offer some steps to help:

  • We have created a place on our website's Helpful Resources page to gather information on dealing with grief and loss. We are starting with just a few links, but we will gradually add more. There is a place on the page for you to contribute anything that you find helpful that may assist others.
Resources on Dealing with Grief and Loss
  • Our social media and news posts today are a tribute to Mrs. Bishop. (Click on the Facebook and/or Instagram icons in the footer of this email.) We created an online space for written memories or to share photos. Anything you post here will be collected and given to her family as a keepsake.

A Place to Remember
  • If you or your children would like a tangible, visible act of remembrance, there is a place for flowers, candles, notes, etc., in front of the school building. A collection has already been started today at the main entrance.
  • Many of you are asking how you can help the Bishop family financially. We will provide information on how to do this as soon as we can.
  • Please direct any other ideas you may have for helping to Chris Alexander or Darcy Alexander. They are coordinating these efforts.

As I mentioned in my letter yesterday, ICSB has a team of people working on crisis response, and we are working on other information pieces that we will communicate with you in the days ahead.

I wish you a Blessed Easter tomorrow,

Kristi Hiltibran
