Darija Villwock

In this Senior Spotlight, meet Darija from the United States of America and Russia, who attended ICSB for three years.

What have you been involved in at ICSB?

NHS, SLC, Chapel worship team, teaching dance to elementary students, Bible studies.

Share about a teacher(s) and how they have impacted you positively.

I have a hard time choosing only a few.

Mr. Fletcher – I still talk about how Chemistry was 102% my favorite high school class even though most of it was online (COVID-19). 2% of the reason for that is because balancing equations is so much fun and ridiculously satisfying. 100% of the reason was the teacher.

Ms. Stowell – You were the first in-person high school teacher I had. Your honest opinions, laugh, and side conversations are some of my best memories.

Ms. Cole – Because of you, I grew so much in character, discipline, and knowledge. You challenged me fully knowing that I am capable. That was so encouraging.

Mrs. Thieson – Your faith and experiences inspire me.

Mrs. Lingenhoel – I am so grateful for your advice. It set me on the better path.

Ms. Swenson – You helped me pursue my goal and dream. Your words build me up.

Mr. Jefferies and Mr. Southwell – You always made me feel like the day the Lord has made is good.

Mrs. Morgan – Your study hall is my favorite ;):)

I would write so much more and mention so many more teachers who have impacted me! But I am running out of space!

What’s your favorite thing or memory about ICSB?

SLC, study hall times, lunch with Boyu, time with Elaina, high school retreat, Chemistry, last day of AP Human Geography, and my siblings' hugs as we passed in the hallway. And, of course, the Secret Santa airplane ticket to visit my boyfriend! (boy, thank you, dear friends!)

What has been the highlight of your senior year?

The highlight of my senior year has been the people. I have grown to know my teachers better than any year thus far. I have grown in my relationship with other students at ICSB. Study hall card games, the Student Leadership Conference, jokes, studies, and lunches, all have seen to my growing closer to the students here. I have laughed more, cried more, and grown more in my relationships with the people here this year than ever before. I have also grown only closer to my family. So, in fewer words, the highlight of my year: people.

What are some of the ways you’ve grown since you first came to ICSB?

Since coming to ICSB, I have grown in my academic knowledge.

Will you be attending college next year?

I will take a gap semester and complete a two-month missions internship in Spain. I will begin my college career in January of 2025.

Which college(s) have you been accepted to?

Johnson University and Asbury University (the only two universities where I applied to)

Which school will you attend?
