Bernice Shin

Bernice Shin

Meet Bernice from South Korea, who attended ICSB for 3 years in this Senior Spotlight.

What have you been involved in at ICSB?

I had been involved in choir, band, NHS, the girls volleyball team, the girls soccer team, and the dance team.

Share about a teacher(s) and how they have impacted you positively.

I think all teachers positively impacted me, and I'm very grateful that I had them as my teachers. I grew as a passionate learner in ICSB more than ever before. I'm especially thankful to Mr. Fletcher, who taught me chemistry, Algebra 2, and AP statistics. He made it easy for me to understand general math, and he taught me how to have a growth mindset each year.

What’s your favorite thing or memory about ICSB?

My favorite memory in ICSB is senior year retreat because I loved and enjoyed playing some fun games with people from different grades and talking to people I had never talked to.

What has been the highlight of your senior year?

The last winter classic is the highlight of my senior year. I enjoyed dancing with my friends, and performing and showing our passion was just amazing.

What are some of the ways you’ve grown since you first came to ICSB?

I definitely believe my socializing skills grew positively. I'm very introverted, and when I first came to ICSB, I didn't talk to many people and was afraid of talking to teachers, but as time passed, I realized that people in ICSB welcomed me so well and were easy to become friends with.

Will you be attending college next year?

Yes

What are your future plans?

My plan is to go to university in the United States.
