Mira Toncheva
Meet Mira from Bulgaria, who attended ICSB for 8 years in this Senior Spotlight.
What have you been involved in at ICSB?
I've been involved in soccer, volleyball, basketball, musical, band, choir, chapel, NHS, StuCo, and SALT.
Share about a teacher(s) and how they have impacted you positively.
I could write a whole essay about how the teachers at ICSB have impacted me (and I hate writing essays, but for them I would) because, truly, they have played such a key role in developing me as a person, and I could not be more grateful. Ms. Spence helped me through issues and questions I faced and was someone I knew I could rely on when I needed help in any aspect. Ms. Stowell helped me keep sane during all the chaos of StuCo and during study halls when I needed a yap buddy. Mrs. Marton, Mrs. Culbertson, and Mrs. Strellman all showed me what it was like to love someone as a daughter who isn't your daughter by blood. Mrs. Soderburg has become a role model of what it looks like to radiate Jesus' joy no matter what is going on in the world around us. There are so many more staff members who have impacted me so greatly, but I can't fit them all in here.
What’s your favorite thing or memory about ICSB?
My favorite memories at ICSB have been through sports, whether winning final DVACs or Winter Classic, or just all the funny jokes and moments during practices. As well as musical performances, and the bonds you form with your fellow cast members.
Share a favorite book you read while you were a student at ICSB? And why did you like it?
My favorite book that I've read is All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir. It was one of the first books I read that wasn't a dystopian, and I loved the way it was written and the themes woven throughout the whole book. Another favorite book has been Prayers in the Night, a book about lament and vulnerability that has changed my perspective on those topics.
What has been the highlight of your senior year?
A big highlight has just been all the sweet memories and friendships I've been able to build with the younger classmen through events such as the Prague trip, retreat, banquet, food quests, class hangouts, banquet, and winter classic.
What are some of the ways you’ve grown since you first came to ICSB?
I have grown in my athleticism and height just a little bit (haha), but on a real note, I think I have grown in my relationship with the Lord, and during my time here at ICSB, I have become a follower instead of just a believer, really stepping out and growing in evangelism and discipleship.
Will you be attending college next year?
What are your future plans?
I plan to attend Georgia Southern University to pursue a profession in athletic training.
