Katherine Jani
In this #SeniorSpotlight2021, get to know Katherine, an eleven-year student originally from the US, whose dream is to become an interior decorator.
When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?
"Uni's Not for Me" by Matt Walden
What’s your favorite TV show or movie?
Thor: Ragnarok
What have you been involved in at ICSB?
Volleyball, basketball, soccer, musical, and art.
How long have you been at ICSB?
11 years.
What’s your favorite place on campus and why?
The playground because it reminds me of being a kid and of feeling the sun and the breeze on your face with the green grass brings a whole other level of relaxation.
How have your teachers impacted you?
Since 6th grade, Mrs. Peck helped me stay positive when learning hard subjects in math or while trying to stay awake through first period and taught me the importance of encouraging others and keeping good relationships with God and friends. Miss Olandt has taught me in many different classes since middle school and has continued to affirm the work I do, whether that be in math, physics, art, or soccer.
What’s your favorite thing or memory about ICSB?
I loved planning tournament and being able to serve others while jamming out to music with friends.
What is an experience you’ve had at ICSB that you couldn’t have had anywhere else?
I think I have gotten a lot more chances to try out and plan many things. I have been able to be a part of many extracurricular activities at the same time and have been able to plan things such as concession stands, tournament, and high school retreat. I have also gotten to meet people from many different countries through sports.
What are some of the ways you’ve grown since you first came to ICSB?
I came here when I was 7, so I've physically grown a couple of inches. Other than that, I think I have learned to work with all kinds of people and I have learned to work hard.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be doing an internship in interior decorating in California.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be an interior decorator.
