In this #SeniorSpotlight2021, get to know Eliza, a six-year student originally from the US, who would love to work with children.

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?

"Pomp and Circumstance" - haha

What’s your favorite TV show or movie?

"Forrest Gump"

What have you been involved in at ICSB?

Varsity girls soccer, choir 4 years, band 1 year, ensemble 1 year, honors choir 2 years, chapel team for 6 years, and musical 4 years.

How long have you been at ICSB?

I’ve been at ICSB for 6 years.

What’s your favorite place on campus and why?

The chapel, for two reasons. The first is because of how much fun the chapel team has during practices and chapel itself; I love how we bond throughout the year. And two, the chapel is the place in school where I have seen others grow the most spiritually and have experienced so much spiritual growth myself.

How have your teachers impacted you?

Miss Cole, Mr. Hughey, and Mr. Bishop - they encouraged me through rough times and made me believe in my abilities and gifts.

What’s your favorite thing or memory about ICSB?

Probably my first honors choir which was held at ICSB or any and all of the tournaments I have been here for. I loved creating new friendships with fellow believers from other schools.

What is an experience you’ve had at ICSB that you couldn’t have had anywhere else?

There are quite a few people at ICSB that knew my mom. I guess an experience I had that I couldn't have had anywhere else are the conversations I got to have with those who knew her to learn more about my mom. I will forever be grateful for everything they told me as I don't remember too much since she passed away when I was really young.

What are some of the ways you’ve grown since you first came to ICSB?

I have definitely grown in my confidence. When I came to ICSB, I had little to no confidence in what I could do. My peers and my teachers showed me time after time that they believed in me and eventually, that led me to believing in myself too. I have also grown in my overall knowledge of the Bible and who God is. I came to ICSB in 2015 straight from public schools in Florida and from a church I didn't feel a part of. I soon found out that I really didn't know that much about the Bible or just exactly who God was. The community of believers here rallied around me to help me in my walk with God and for that I am so thankful.

What colleges did you get accepted to and which one will you pick?

I got accepted to the University of Northwestern, Bethel University, and Crown College, and plan to attend Bethel University.

What is your dream job?

Social work, to help getting kids out of unsafe homes.
